The Role

The Institute for Climate and Application Research (ICAR) at Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST) is seeking to appoint a number of highly motivated Postdoctoral research scientists to climate dynamics, climate model development, climate prediction, and climate application. The successful candidates will perform independent researches, provide supports for projects carried out within ICAR, and apply for research funds independently or jointly with team members.


About You

You must hold a PhD (or will gain a PhD before enrollment) in atmosphere, ocean, climate science or related fields for less than three years after graduation.

You will be a self-motivated researcher with outstanding capability/skill in carrying out one or more of the following areas: climate dynamics, model development, prediction, and applications.

Ideally, you will be someone who can work independently but also enjoys working collaboratively within a team, liaising with a range of stakeholders.

Essential:

  • A doctorate (or PhD candidates) in relevant disciplines including atmosphere, ocean, and climate science; Completed PhD in the past 3 years; Under 35 years old.

  • Evidence of well-developed written and verbal communication skills, for example, publications in scientific journals and conference presentations

  • Proven ability to carry out autonomous research (outliningyour post-doctoral research plan)

Desirable:

  • Evidence of a strong research record or demonstrated research potential in the areas of climate dynamics, climate model development, climate prediction, or climate application, with a focus on publishing articles in top journals.

  • Knowledge of climate model and supercomputing

  • A demonstrated ability to interact with external/internal collaborators and stakeholders.
